Terms of service
Last updated 9 October 2026
These terms cover your use of FraudToad, a Shopify app run by the FraudToad team. By installing it on your store you agree to them. "You" means the merchant who installs the app.
The service
FraudToad scores your store's new orders for card testing and, depending on how you set it up, tags them, holds them for your review, cancels them and voids their payment, or adds their card, IP address, email and customer to your store's blocklist. It also offers a review queue, alerts, a dashboard and a test on your past orders. The help pages describe what each part does and its limits.
We handle your customers' data as described in our privacy policy, and only to provide the app to you.
Your decisions and responsibilities
- You decide what happens to your orders. The app starts in shadow mode, where it cancels nothing. Whether it may cancel, void or block on its own, and how strict its rules are, are your settings. You review held orders and decide whether to approve or cancel them.
- It won't catch all fraud, and it will sometimes flag a real customer. Scoring is based on patterns that card testers usually show, and some honest orders share them. Check what it flags, especially before you turn on automatic cancelling.
- Voiding needs manual capture. If your store captures payment automatically, cancelling an order means refunding it, with whatever fees your payment provider keeps.
- You are responsible for your store's dealings with your customers, for having a lawful basis to process their data, and for telling them about it in your own privacy policy.
- Don't use the app to discriminate against customers, or for anything other than protecting your store from fraud.
Plans and billing
Paid plans are billed through Shopify, on your Shopify invoice. Your plan depends on how many orders your store receives in a month:
| Orders per month | Price per month |
|---|---|
| Up to 200 | Free |
| Up to 2,000 | $5 |
| Up to 10,000 | $15 |
| More than 10,000 | $29 |
- Cancelled and voided orders don't count toward your plan's limit, so an attack doesn't push you into a bigger plan.
- Going over your plan's limit never turns protection off.
- Prices are in US dollars and exclude any taxes Shopify adds. If we change a price, Shopify asks you to approve the new price before you are charged it.
- Refunds of charges are handled through Shopify's billing and its rules.
Liability
The app is provided as it is. We work to keep it running and its decisions sound, but we don't promise it will be uninterrupted or free of errors.
We aren't liable for orders the app or you cancelled, held or blocked, for fraudulent orders it didn't catch, or for chargebacks, fees, lost sales or other indirect losses. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything to do with the app is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Ending
You can stop at any time by uninstalling the app from your Shopify admin. Billing stops when you uninstall, and 48 hours later we delete all of your store's data, as our privacy policy describes.
We may suspend or end your use of the app if you break these terms or use it to harm others.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here with a new date. Using the app after a change takes effect means you accept the new terms.
